Karen is a highly skilled and dedicated teacher who brings a wealth of teaching experience to the Arahunga team.
Karen’s first priority is to always develop confidence by building positive, fun, trusting relationships with our students. She always looks carefully at what she feels the students needs might be by initially focusing on strengths and gently leading them to extend themselves and develop new skills. This will lead to a greater sense of achievement and confidence in next steps. Reflecting honestly on each day and what has been achieved is paramount to her. Teachers have an enormous influence on students and this takes commitment to always be a positive role model and be willing to do whatever it takes which is often hard work ,and to be constantly open to where the need might be and how to fill the need. Our special needs students often have difficulty having a voice and cannot express their needs adequately. She is their advocate and their voice when necessary.
